About Cologne: Shopping

Breite Straße

The Breite Straße is a shopping street with some smaller and specialized shops. Here you can find a special store for umbrellas, for example. The Breite Straße can be reached via a long pedestrian underpass from Neumarkt (Station of lines 1, 7 and 9) where you will find even more shops.

Schildergasse/Hohe Straße

The “Schildergasse” ("sign makers lane", because those were located here in the Middle Ages) is the most frequented shopping area in Germany today. Here you will find stores with books, clothes, house wares, sporting goods etc. The eastern end of the street leads to the “Hohe Straße”, which extends the shopping streetand ends at the Cologne Cathedral. Several souvenir stores can be found there.
Railway to Köln Hbf (walking from east to west) or tramway 1, 7, 9 to  Neumarkt (walking from west to east)

Ringe

The “Ringe” form a ring-shaped street in the west of Cologne’s inner city centre. Many special shops, where almost everything is sold, are located along the Ringe. Here you can find designer furniture, electronics, CDs etc. as well as many modern restaurants, bars and cafés, too. Discotheques are located in the student quarter next to the Zülpicher Platz.

The Ringe can be reached via line 1,7,9 to Station “Rudolfplatz”. From here, you can take the underground lines 12 or 15 that travel below the street level of the Ringe.

KölnArcaden

The KölnArcaden, openend in 2005, is a modern shopping-mall with a variety of stores, offering all kinds of goods from clothes and foods to electronics.
