Call for Papers
Mission
Join us in Cologne, Germany, where FUSION 2008 will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the International Conferences on Information Fusion, a highly successful conference series having been started 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Opening a new decade of fusion research, FUSION 2008 will be covering all aspects of all-source information fusion and its vast, ever increasing scope of applications. Let FUSION 2008 be an opportunity for our community to demonstrate that Information Fusion is evolving into a mature branch of applied science characterised by its own methodologies, technologies, and fields of application.
Conference Site
Situated in the Rhineland region, in the heart of Europe, the City of Cologne has been for more than 2000 years a melting pot fusing people, languages, and cultures, creating a unique European metropolis. Due to its lively tradition of trading, science, and education, Cologne became one of the central European locations for industry, research, and academia.
The conference venue will be the Hyatt Regency Conference Hotel, ideally situated in the center of Cologne by the Rhine River, overlooking the Cologne Cathedral, a UNESCO world heritage site. Cologne’s wealth of history includes Roman sites, Romanesque churches, medieval houses, world-famous museums, and the Old Town with its numerous pubs, restaurants, and small local breweries, just a stroll away. The conference site is easy to reach from Cologne/Bonn International Airport.
Topics of Interest
To a degree never known before, human decision makers or decision making systems have access to a vast amount of structured and unstructured data from heterogeneous sources. For making use of this potential, the relevant information has to be extracted and to be fused to high-quality knowledge. This provides support on all levels in the particular field of application. Within this context, the topics of interests include, but are not limited to:
- Fusion Methodologies for data, information and knowledge representation, modeling and fusion of imperfect information, process refinement, …
- Fusion Algorithms for detection, filtering, tracking, classification, object & pattern recognition, association, aggregation, unification, resource management, …
- Fusion Technologies for sensor modelling, fusion architectures, system design, performance evaluation & prediction, data mining, natural language processing, ontologies, software agents, computing/communications aspects, …
- Fusion Applications for situational awareness, decision support, assistance and control in defence, aerospace, intelligent transportation, automotive, traffic monitoring, public security & safety, robotics, logistics, automation, economy & finance, medical care, environment, …
Paper Submission
Prospective authors are encouraged to submit high-quality papers with a length of 4-8 pages via the paper submission page of this conference website.
Special Sessions and Tutorials
We encourage the submission of proposals for special sessions as part of the regular conference programme, dedicated to areas of particular interest. The first day of the conference will be devoted to tutorials on information fusion. Proposals for special sessions and tutorials are invited to be submitted via email.
Student Paper Program
FUSION 2008 will feature a student paper program to encourage the involvement of young engineers and scientists in information fusion research.
Invited Speakers
FUSION 2008 will include keynote lectures given by:
- Henk A. P. Blom, National Aerospace Laboratory NLR, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
- Hugh F. Durrant-Whyte, Australian Centre for Field Robotics, University of Sydney, Australia
